SGPC’s human move amidst Indo -Pak tension: Arrangement of shelter and anchor in gurdwaras for the affected people of the border region – Amritsar News

In view of the increasing tension between India and Pakistan, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has taken a commendable and human initiative. The committee has announced to arrange shelter and anchor in gurdwaras for people being displaced from the border area. SGPC President

SGPC Secretary Pratap Singh said that due to the current situation, special arrangements are being made in various gurdwaras under SGPC for the safety and relief of the residents of the boarder area. He said that letters have been issued to the managers of the respective gurdwaras on the instructions of the SGPC President, in which they have been asked to ensure immediate arrangements.

Under this initiative, the gurdwaras which have been instructed to be specially prepared include:

  • Gurudwara Shri Barth Sahib (Pathankot)
  • Gurudwara Shri Darbar Sahib Dera Baba Nanak (Gurdaspur)
  • Gurudwara Baba Budha Sahib Ramdas (Amritsar)
  • Gurudwara Gurusar Satalani Sahib Patshahi Chhaveen (Hussainiwala, Amritsar)
  • Gurudwara Shri Chheharta Sahib Patshahi Chhaveen (Amritsar)
  • Gurudwara Baba Bir Singh Rattoke (Tarn Taran)
  • Gurudwara Bhai Tara Singh Ji Shaheed, Van Village (Tarn Taran)
  • Gurudwara Jamni Sahib Patshahi tenth, Bajidpur (Ferozepur)
  • Gurudwara Shri Darbar Sahib (Shri Muktsar Sahib)
  • Gurudwara Bir Baba Budha Sahib (Tarn Taran)
  • Gurudwara Baba Budha ji, Teja Kalan (Gurdaspur)
  • Gurudwara Sanh Sahib, Basark Gilllan Village (Amritsar)
  • Gurudwara Patshahi Chhaveen and Ninth, Guru Ka Bagh, Ghukwali (Amritsar)

SGPC has clarified that any person who has been displaced from the border area can take refuge in these gurdwaras. They will not only get safe shelter, but the anchor of three times will also be given with full service.

This step not only alives the spirit of ‘Seva and Sarbat Da Bhala’ of the Sikh tradition, but also offers an exemplary example in the hour of crisis. SGPC has also said that if needed, other gurudwaras will also be included in this initiative.
