Major principles of Sikhism
1. Sikhism is monotheistic: God is formless (royal), unborn and omnipresent. No picture, idol or tangible form of it can be made.
2. Guru Granth Sahib Last and Vibrant Guru: In Sikhism, Guru Granth Sahib ji is considered the last and living guru. This book is not only a religious text, but a lively form of the Guru. No person, idol or picture can be considered a guru.
3. Guru’s form is not in image or idol: The first ten Sikh Gurus never worshiped themselves nor made their statues. Guru Gobind Singh ji had clarified that after him no person will be a Guru, but Guru Granth Sahib will be Guru. Therefore, in Sikhism, it is forbidden to make a idol of gurus, to worship or consider them to be the form of God.
4. Remembering God, working hard and sharing with the needy.
