Seven -year -old child fell into a drain chasing a kite in Welcome area of Delhi

A seven-year-old child fell into an open drain in an attempt to catch a kite on Friday evening in Welcome area of North-East Delhi. A police officer said that after receiving information about the incident, a search and rescue operation was conducted to search for the boy, which had to be stopped later due to darkness.

According to the official, the incident occurred near the wood market culvert, where the boy was playing. The identity of the boy has not been revealed yet. The official said, “We were informed of a child falling into a drain in the evening. A team immediately reached the spot and found that the boy had fallen into the drain chasing the kite.”

The official said that the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) was informed and the search and rescue operation was launched with the help of local divers and fire department personnel. However, he reported that the campaign had to be stopped late in the evening due to poor visibility.

“The search with additional manpower and equipment will be resumed on Saturday morning,” the official said. He said that efforts are being made to stop the flow of water in some parts of the drain to help in the search campaign.
