If you have any important work to do in the bank, get it done before 15th December. Banks across the country will remain closed from December 16 to 17 due to opposition to the Banking Law Amendment Bill, 2021. Banks will be open for half a day on December 18 and will be closed on Sunday, December 19. The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) on Saturday staged a protest at Bank Chowk in Sector 17 against the Bank Bill 2021. Union convener Sanjeev said That the government is quick to bring a bill in Parliament and it is passed without any discussion. The common man is paying the price. No one knows what has been done in the bill that is going to be introduced in Parliament this time and what will be the benefit or disadvantage of it. If the bill is passed without discussion, it could hurt the general public.

Deepak Sharma from the union said that if the state-owned bank was privatized, it would be to the detriment of the common man. Private banks always charge higher interest rates on loans. Apart from this, if any amount is deposited in the bank, the interest on it is nominal. Because of this the common man suffers the most. Mr. Deepak said that today there are branches of State Bank of India and Punjab National Bank in every city and town of the country. The general public benefits because they do not have to travel far to get any work done in the bank.
Sushil Gautam from the union said that if the state-owned bank was privatized, employment would also be affected. Private banks promote digital rather than manpower. While this saves time, it can also be a daunting task. People do not know about bank loans or other things, due to which they are not able to avail the proper benefits of the bank.
