Senior Indian Police Service officer Rajiv Krishna on Saturday took over as Director General of Police (DGP) of Uttar Pradesh. This information was given in an official statement.
He is a 1991 batch officer of the Indian Police Service (IPS) and replacing Prashant Kumar, who has retired on 31 May. According to senior officials of the state’s home department, like his predecessor, Krishna will also be the acting director general of the state.
Krishna was currently serving as Director General (DG) of Vigilance and Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board. Krishna, an alumnus of IIT Roorkee, is one of the youngest officers to join IPS.
He has served several posts including Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Lucknow, Deputy Inspector General of Lucknow Range, SSP of Noida, Inspector General of Lucknow Zone (IG) (IG) and Additional Director General of Agra Zone (ADG). He has also served as the IG (Operation) of the Border Security Force (BSF).
