In a significant development ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, sources have confirmed that the Mahua assembly seat has been secured by Chirag Paswan-led LJP (RV), while Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) chief Upendra Kushwaha has been assured of key political appointments. He has got assurance of expansion in MLC seat and Rajya Sabha. The development comes hours after Kushwaha expressed dissatisfaction over the seat-sharing arrangement within the ruling NDA in Bihar ahead of the assembly elections.

According to party insiders, Kushwaha was not happy with the six seats allotted to his party. He was also not happy with the allocation of Mahua seat to Chirag Paswan’s party. NDA leaders on Tuesday had claimed that the allocation of seats among the alliance partners has been decided amicably and discussions are in the final stages. However, discontent among younger colleagues emerged soon thereafter.
Earlier on Sunday, the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) announced seat sharing for the upcoming Bihar elections. BJP and JDU will contest on 101 seats each, LJP (Ram Vilas) on 29 seats, Rashtriya Lok Morcha on six seats and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) on six seats. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) includes Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Janata Dal (United) (JDU), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) and Rashtriya Lok Morcha.

The Election Commission has announced the Bihar Assembly election schedule. Voting for 243 assembly seats will be held in two phases on November 6 and November 11, and counting of votes will take place on November 14. The NDA led by BJP and JDU will face the India Bloc led by RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav, Congress, CPI(ML) led by Dipankar Bhattacharya, CPI, CPI(M) and Mukesh Sahni’s Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP). Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj Party has also staked claim on all the 243 seats in the state.
