The talented actor has recently revealed that the shooting of the much awaited biopic of cricket veteran Sourav Ganguly, in which he is playing the lead role, will begin next year. This update of the actor has come at a time when the ‘owner’ is continuously performing well at the box office. With the appreciation of his strong acting by the audience, Rao is now focusing on the preparation of his next big challenge, playing the role of one of the most prestigious captains of Indian cricket.
Although the title and director of the film is yet to be announced, the actor said that the film is delayed due to the comprehensive preparation required to do justice with the lives and heritage of one of the most prestigious sports personalities in India.
Mid-Day has reported that the actors are preparing hard for this role. It was told that the shooting will start this year, but due to heavy preparation, it seems that it will start in 2026. Rao is undergoing intensive training for this role, especially to mold his style, Ganguly, who is a left -handed batsman. He further said, “Although I know how to play cricket, but being a left -handed batsman is a completely different thing. The muscle memory depends on being a right -handed batsman. Therefore, I need some time for practice. I intentionally not met Dada yet. I want to meet him when we are fully prepared.”

In a pre -interview with NDTV, Rao confirmed the casting, saying, “Now that Dada has already said, I should also make it official – yes, I am playing his role in his biopic. I am nervous. It’s a huge responsibility, but it is very funny.”
Ganguly, who scored more than 18,500 runs and 38 centuries in his international career, gave his consent to the actor’s casting and assured to give full support. This great cricketer, considered one of the most successful captains of India, said, “I think this is doing the right person. I will help them in everything.”
Meanwhile, Rajkumar Rao is ready to start work on a new dark comedy directed by Aditya Nimbalkar. Ganguly’s biopic is still in pre-production, so actor is trying to find new styles before playing the role of Dada.
