The proceedings of both houses were postponed for the day amidst the opposition’s uproar demanding discussion on voter list amendment in Bihar. Due to repeated disruption by the opposition, the proceedings of both houses were adjourned for the day. Since the onset of the monsoon session of Parliament on July 21, the proceedings have been interrupted for the third consecutive week, except for a two -day debate on Operation Sindoor. Apart from this, MPs of opposition parties created a ruckus on Wednesday demanding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s presence in the Lok Sabha. At the same time, a tribute was paid to former member late Satyapal Malik in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. Malik died in a hospital in New Delhi on Tuesday after a long illness.

Lok Sabha proceedings
The Lok Sabha on Wednesday passed a bill to expand the eligibility criteria of the ownership of commercial ships and to investigate and inquire for maritime accidents after brief discussion. The Lok Sabha approved the ‘Commerce Ships Transport Bill, 2024’ by sounding the ‘Commerce Ship Transport Bill, 2024’ in the noise of the members of the opposition parties on the issue of special intensive revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said on Wednesday that the issue of special intensive revision (SIR) of voter lists in Bihar is under consideration in the Supreme Court and the issue of Lok Sabha operations and procedures and procedures cannot be discussed in the House.
The Congress and several other opposition parties wrote a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Wednesday urging that two Bills related to the Sports listed in the Lok Sabha agenda should be sent for the idea of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC). Opposition parties said that these bills are of national importance and they need widespread consent.

Rajya Sabha proceedings
The Rajya Sabha passed the Maritime Mall Transport Bill, 2025 amid opposition from the opposition in the House. The Rajya Sabha meeting on Wednesday was postponed for a full day at 2.30 pm after a one -time adjournment due to uproar by opposition members seeking discussion on various issues including special intensive revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar. Due to the uproar, the upper house could not be zero hour and Question Hour even today.
