The Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha proceedings started again on Tuesday morning, but there was a huge uproar in both houses. Opposition MPs shouted slogans and protested against the Bihar voter list amendment, after which the proceedings of both houses were adjourned till Wednesday, 23 July at 11 am. Opposition MPs raised slogans against the Center and demanded a discussion on several issues.

Lok Sabha proceedings
Opposition ‘Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance’ (India) constituent MPs protested within and out of Parliament on the issue of special intensive revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar on Tuesday. Opposition MPs first demonstrated in the Parliament complex and then shouted slogans on the issue in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, which disrupted the proceedings of both houses.
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that the opposition is demanding discussion and we are ready for it. Then why are they not allowing the house to run? This double criterion is incorrect. If you want discussion, do not make uproar. The government has said that we are ready for discussion. You are wasting public money.
Customs officials and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized about 3.93 crore cigarettes till June in the current financial year to prevent illegal tobacco sales in the market. The government gave this information to Parliament on Tuesday. Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasad told in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha.

Rajya Sabha proceedings
On Tuesday, the resignation of Vice President and Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar was announced in the Rajya Sabha on behalf of the seat, who sent his resignation to President Draupadi Murmu on Monday night. When the meeting of the Upper House started at twelve in the afternoon, the presiding president Ghanshyam Tiwari said that he has to give a necessary information to the House. Tiwari said that the Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a notification on 22 July 2025 for the resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar under Article 67 (A) of the Constitution. On Tuesday, the Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh presided over the morning proceedings of the House, a day after resigning from the post, citing the health reasons of Dhankhar as Vice President. Dhankar usually presided over the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha at the beginning of the day.
