The Indian cricket team’s wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson’s mentor cum coach Rifi Gomez has made a big claim about his batting order. His remarks have come before the Asia Cup 2025, in which this Kerala star may have to bat fifth or sixth. Because Chief selector Ajit Agarkar has said to give the role of the first opener to Shubman Gill.
At the same time, before the Asia Cup, Samson’s coach has clarified that according to the needs of the team, Sanju has no problem in batting on any order.
Will Sanju Samson be fit at number five or sixth? Talking to The Telegraph on this, Gomez claimed that Samson could mold himself to bat in a lower order, as he is a professional and internationally an established player. He said that the flexibility of the wicketkeeper batsman gives him guidance and he has full confidence in his abilities.
Samson kept himself in the middle order in the initial match of the Kerala Cricket League’s Kochi Blue Tigers. However, he did not need to bat in a single match. In the next match, he made a comeback as a opener and scored a stormy century in 42 balls. In the third match, he once again returned to the middle order and batted at number six but he could score only 13 runs off 22 balls.
