Sangram on SIR from Kerala to Bihar: Congress surrounds CM Vijayan, raised big questions

Senior Congress leader KC Venugopal on Friday criticized Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s special intensive revision (SIR) of the voter list in the state. Talking to reporters, Venugopal said that everyone opposed the SIR except Chief Minister Vijayan, who has been supporting it. He said, “Everyone opposed the SIR, except the Chief Minister of Kerala, who has been supporting it.”

In addition, amidst the controversy over special intensive revision (SIR) in Bihar, Congress General Secretary Ghulam Ahmed Mir said on Wednesday that the party would go among the people and ensure that no eligible voters are deprived of the franchise. Mir said that the Congress party is not against SIR, but is against its sudden implementation in Bihar. He further said that if the Election Commission wanted to implement the SIR, then it should have done so in the entire country immediately after the Lok Sabha elections.

Talking to ANI, the Congress leader said, “… Congress is not against SIR. He (Election Commission) should have implemented it in the whole country after the Lok Sabha elections, and people should have been given a certain time to prepare their documents … We will go among the people on this issue and ensure that no one has lost his right to vote …” Earlier, Congress Committee (Wednesday) During the meeting, the BJP -led government was targeted and accused of “systematically eliminating democratic institutions and constitutional values”.
