Roger Binny resigns, Rajiv Shukla becomes BCCI caretaker

BCCI President Roger Binny has resigned from his post. According to a media report, Rajiv Shukla is handling the responsibility of acting head of BCCI till the new president is elected. He was earlier in the role of vice -president.
According to a report based on a sources of Dainik Jagran, Rajiv Shukla chaired the meeting of the Apex Committee of BCCI on Wednesday. There was sponsorship in the main agenda of the meeting. There was a discussion about the end of the agreement with Dream 11 and the search for new sponsors for the next two-and-a-half years.
According to the report, there are no two weeks left in the Asia Cup, so it is difficult to get a new sponsor till then. The report quoted the source as saying. Now there are no two weeks left. We are trying but it takes time to remove new tender, cradle legal process and other technical things. The source said on the question of bringing separate sponsors for the short term i.e. only Asia Cup that he will not do so. The focus is on bringing sponsors to the ODI World Cup of 2027.
Rajiv Shukla will play the role of caretaker chief till the election of the new BCCI President. Despite the National Sports Administration law, BCCI will have to hold elections in addition to its annual general meeting next month.
According to the report, the BCCI cannot put the election as the sports law has enacted. His notification has not been issued yet. It may take a few months to be notified, so the BCCI has decided not to postpone the election.
