Roadways Contract Employees Surround MLA Pargat Singh’s House, Slogans Against Punjab Govt.

Jalandhar: As soon as he got the post of General Secretary of Punjab State Congress Committee, the expectations of the disgruntled employees from the government have been pinned on MLA Pargat Singh. Contract workers of Punjab Roadways and PRTC, who were continuously protesting against their demands, today cordoned off Pargat Singh’s residence and handed over a memorandum to him.

Meanwhile, the employees also chanted slogans against the Punjab government. Union president Channan Singh said the workers had been on strike for six days but the government was not addressing their demands.

Tensions between Punjab Roadways employees and the government remain. There seems to be no solution to the problem of employees. The wheels of 2000 government buses remained stuck on the 7th day. Government buses are not running due to the strike of contract employees. As a result, passengers and especially women with free travel facilities are facing difficulties. The striking workers are scheduled to meet Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Tuesday.
