Ajay Devgan’s most awaited film ‘Red-2’ has been engaged in theater on May 1. In this film, Ajay is going to face Ritesh Deshmukh. The film ‘Red-2’ is a sequel to the film ‘Red’ in the year 2018. Vani Kapoor and Saurabh Shukla will also be seen in this drama thriller movie of director Rajkumar Gupta.

Actor Ritesh Deshmukh and director Rajkumar Gupta have had a special conversation with Dainik Bhaskar about the film.

Question- Ritesh, you have done films from every genre. Your fans feel that you are an under -rated actor. What would you say?

I have been working in the industry for 22 years. 10-12 years of beginning went on doing the same role and films. At that time, he used to think that sometimes there would be a time when people will say that they can do something else leaving comedy. When directors like Rajkumar ji think of you in such a great role and then cast you, it feels good if you get praise from the audience.

I think I have something different from comedy. However, I like comedy a lot but I love acting more than anything.

Question- Ritesh is like your acting water, in which the pot is put in, it takes the same shape.

Thank you for this praise. I believe that my personality is such that I get mixed up in the atmosphere. If my director is Raj, I like to be like him. I get into their world. If I am on the set of Indra Kumar, I become like him. I am like myself when I work in my films.

Question- Rajkumar, what is ‘Red-2’ for you and why did it take so much time to make it?

The film has no time table. Time felt that I wanted a story that would be able to take the story of ‘Red’ forward. It took time to work on the screen play and neeration of the story. A strong story was needed to cast an actor like Ajay sir and Ritesh together and show against each other. The character and the story should have been such that he also enjoyed it when he saw the audience. Because of all this it took time to bring this film. For me, ‘Red-2’ means a good story and good character.

Question- What were you thinking while casting Ritesh for the role of Dada Bhai?

See, as Ritesh said that he has been working for 22 years. He has played different characters and is a well-known artist. Ritesh is very simple and natural. If the directors want to mold them, they get molded. The simplicity with which the Comlex Roll also plays is amazing in itself. I kept these things in mind while making the role of grandfather Manohar Bhai.

It is not with them that we will practice for hours for the character. I worked with them in a series before ‘Red-2’. At that time I saw that on the set, we all used to laugh and joke and as soon as the camera was on, they used to enter their character. Then I thought that I had a character for which Ritesh should be approached, then I will definitely do it. This happened during the time of ‘Red-2’. I felt that Ritesh would play this character very well and take it to a different level.

Question- Ritesh, what did you like in this character?

I first see what she wants to tell the story. Second, who is making it. One is the story very good and Rajkumar ji was making this film. Nobody has seen me in such a role before. However, when I did ‘one villain’, my character in it is of a common man. Who was a losing person in the crowd. If they stand in the crowd somewhere, then you will not see anything special in it. But my character of ‘Red-2’ is such that when this person stands somewhere, the crowd will gather there.

Dada Manohar Bhai’s personality is so dynamic. He is a self -made political leader who starts by the way and becomes a Union Minister. Many times power is due to fear. But the specialty of Dada Bhai is that his power is due to the love and respect of the people. When people love this way, then the point of that power is different. I felt that Dada Manohar Bhai has strength in the role and after a time he starts using that power in the film. He can be scary.

Question- You come from a political family. How much private experience was used for this role?

My character in this film is quite different. In such a situation, I do not think that private experience in the character came to work. Yes, I knew how a political leader lives among people, what is the atmosphere during public speech. I know what the backstage is, what happens after reaching the stage and what happens when you go among people after the speech. If I am running in the corridor of the ministry, then I know what happens around.

I have seen these things closely. When such scenes were being filmed in the film, my experience came in handy. I have been lucky that I have got a chance to meet many leaders of different party. They all have their own way and swag. Some are good in public speaking and some have a stagnation and some simplicity. For this role, I have taken something from the character of many leaders. But I cannot say that the character I have done meets someone.

Question- Rajkumar, you are known for the original story but your film has two stars who are known for hit franchise films.

It’s not like that. Both Ajay and Ritesh have done films besides franchisees. Yes, his franchise has been a hit. Our industry is such that there is no guarantee of anything. ‘Red-2’ is a sequel but its story is original. We have carried forward the characters of the first film. The world around the characters is original. If the audience comes to see as a franchise or an original film, then what would be a better thing. Eventually we all want the audience to come and watch the film.

Question- You both have any memories of the set, which you would like to share?

Ritesh- For me, two scenes in this film have been very emotional. The relationship with Dada Bhai with his mother is very important for me. However, the film is not based on that relationship. But his foundation is bound by a relationship. When you watch the film, you will be able to understand what I am talking about.

Rajkumar- When you work together 60-70 days, a lot of emotional moments are made. Sometimes someone has a performance, sometimes someone is coming or a scene. There are many memories according to this. In such a situation, it will be a little unique to tell one.

Question- In the end, how has the experience working with Ajay Devgan. Are they equally serious on the set?

Ritesh- I don’t know what set you are talking about. Ajay has never been serious with me. Me and Ajay keep laughing on the set. We are both working together in the last 20 years. We have fourth or fifth film with us. I know him very well and he is my very good friend. I have spent a lot of time with them on set and off set.

Ajay is an actor who is not at all insiosure. Many times some stars watch the film from their perspective but Ajay is among the rare actors who first watch the film. Then he considers himself not a star character. In a scene of the film, Dada Bhai blows Amay Patnaik, Ajay was Amay in that scene. He gave similar expressions in it. They do not consider themselves bigger than the film. This is their quality.

Rajkumar- I tell you an anecdote of Ajay’s prank. We were shooting before Holi. That day someone was distributing Gujhiya on the set. My wife was also on the set that day. I and Ajay were talking about the scene. Then someone came towards us with Gujhiya. Ajay told me that you do not eat this. Then they told me that my wife has eaten two Gujhiya and she is laughing. I later came to know that something was mixed in it.
