Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said on Saturday that the anti -infestation bill introduced in the state assembly will ensure harsh punishment for those who commit religious texts.
Mann reiterated his government’s commitment to curb the incidents of disrespect. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) -led government introduced an anti -violent bill in the Punjab Legislative Assembly on 14 July, which provides for life imprisonment for the acts that disrespect religious texts.
Chief Minister Mann introduced the prevention of crimes against Punjab Holy Scriptures in the House 2025. The State Legislative Assembly sent the bill to a Select Committee of the House to know the opinion of the public along with religious bodies on the proposed law.
The Chief Minister emphasized that this sensitive and serious issue affects all Punjabis and it will have far -reaching impact on the present and future generations. Mann said in his address that strict punishment is necessary to prevent such crimes.
