Rigging in the name of engine repair, did not change in time, big disclosure on Air India Express

Air India Express is once in controversy with Fis. The airline’s major security lapse has come to light. Air India Express was reprimanded by the Director General of Aviation Regulatory Civil Aviation (DGCA) in March. The rebuke was imposed on the Airbus A320 made compulsory by the European Union’s Aviation Safety Authority not to replace the engine parts on time. The European Union’s Aviation Safety Agency EASA was instructed to change these parts. The reason is that some construction flaws were found in these engines. This was at risk of the engine failing and the aircraft could be damaged. Surprisingly, the airline is also accused of manipulating records to seem that the work was done on time, while it did not actually happen.

In a statement, the airline told the Reuters that it had accepted the omission and implemented corrective action and preventive measures. This serious violation occurred at a time when Tata -owned airline group is facing a thorough investigation in the wake of the deadly accident of Air India Dreamliner in Ahmedabad in June – the worst aviation accident in a decade – 241 out of 242 people aboard the aircraft. Although the accident has no relation among themselves, it has highlighted extensive security inspections and procedural rearing within the airline group.

Government data shows that in 2023 officials issued security warnings or fines in 23 cases, out of which 11 belonged to Air India or Air India Express. Since acquiring Air India in 2022, the Tata Group has targeted to make it a global carrier with high reputation. However, the airline is facing frequent complaints of customers about the aircraft status and onboard services, which has now become more complicated by the deepening of the security crisis.
