The X account of the International news agency Reuters has closed in India. A notice shown on the social media platform states that the account has been closed due to ‘legal demand’.
Government of India gave clarification
As soon as this news spread, the Government of India immediately clarified it. The government clearly stated that they had not requested any legal request from X to ban the ex -account of Reuters in India. A spokesman for the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology said, “There is no need to stop the Reuters’ account from the Government of India. We are constantly working with X to cure this problem. ‘

After all, why the account was blocked?
Earlier, the news came that the request to block the ex -account of Reuters during ‘Operation Sindoor’ came from India. But now the government is saying that no such new request has been made.
According to the news agency PTI, a government source said, ‘An order was issued on 7 May (during Operation Sindoor), but was not implemented. It seems that X has now implemented that old order, which is a mistake from their behalf. The government has talked to X to fix this mistake as soon as possible.

At the moment, some other accounts of Reuters such as Reuters Tech News, Reuters Fact Czech, Reuters Asia and Reuters China are running in India, but their main accounts and Reuters are not opening world handles.
According to the X, ‘Stopped content in the country’ means that X has had to stop an account or post due to any legal order or local laws.
