The Punjab and Haryana High Court has stayed the police notice issued to actress Raveena Tandon, film producer Farah Khan and comedian Bharti Singh till 14 July for hurting the religious sentiments of the Christian community.
The case is already under consideration in the final phase in the court. Meanwhile, the three accused were issued notices under Section 35 of the Indian Civil Protection Code (BNSS), asking them to attend the investigation. However, on April 25, the court gave clear instructions that till the next hearing, the police or any investigating agency will neither issue any new notice nor any other action will be taken by the accused to join the investigation.
What is the matter
Actually, in 2019, Farah Khan hosted the show ‘Backbanchers’. The show was based on the General Test for celebrities. It included Raveena Tandon and Bharti Singh as a guest. Meanwhile, Farah Khan asked to tell and explain the meaning of the word ‘Halleluyah’. However, Bharti Singh had described the wrong spelling of the word ‘Halleluyah’ and after that she also added her comic touch to explain the meaning. Due to this, anger spread over this in the Christian community.

Christian Front President Sonu Zafar lodged an FIR against Farah Khan, Raveena Tandon and Bharti Singh at Ajnala police station in Amritsar. He alleged that it was mocked by these stars during an attempt to pronounce the word ‘Halleluyah’, hurting the spirit of the Christian community. ‘Hallaluyah’ is a Hebrew word, used for God.

Raveena tweeted, ‘I have not said a single word that insults any religion. The three of us (Farah Khan, Bharti Singh and I) never did this with the intention of annoying someone, but if we did this and if people were hurt by it, then I apologize to them wholeheartedly. Raveena had also shared the related video and told that she was not intended to hurt anyone.

Farah Khan also tweeted on this matter. Farah wrote, I am saddened that in our episode inadvertently, people’s feelings were hurt. I respect every religion and I never intended to hurt anyone. My entire team i.e. Raveena Tandon, Bharti Singh and I am sad and apologize for this thing.
