Planning to smooth traffic 8 days ago
8 days ago CP Swapan Sharma announced a new integrated police system in the city. This arrangement will bring together the police control room (PCR), traffic branch and CCTV monitoring under the integrated command structure.
CP Sharma had said that the new system would act as the “eye and ears” of the police department, which would lead to better coordination in monitoring traffic, road accidents and criminal activities. He said that we are restructuring our deployment based on the needs of different areas.
He had reported that, earlier, traffic and PCR branches worked in four zones, but under the new plan, the city would be divided into eight operating zones. Each zone will have a dedicated stop point for traffic zone incharge and PCR personnel, who will be responsible for addressing traffic issues and emergency response within their zone.
