India faced close to England by 22 runs in the third Test played at Lord’s. The Indian team piled up for 170 runs chasing the target of 193 runs. At one time India’s second innings looked confined around 100 runs but star all -rounder Ravindra Jadeja showed amazing restraint and courage. He scored an unbeaten 61 runs in 181 balls with the help of four fours and a six. At the same time, Jadeja created a Dhansu record after performing the best batsman in Lord’s Test.
In fact, Jadeja has become the fourth all -rounder in the world to score 7000 plus runs in International cricket and take 600 plus wickets. He currently has 7018 runs and 611 wickets in his account. Jadeja has scored 3697, 2806 and 515 runs in 83 Tests, 204 ODIs and 74 T20 international matches respectively. He took 326 wickets in Test, 231 in ODIs, and 54 wickets in T20. Jadeja said goodbye to T20 International cricket last year.
Apart from Jadeja, the work of taking seven thousand plus runs and 600 plus wickets has been carried out by Kapil Dev, Shaun Pollock and Shakib Al Hasan. 1983 World Cup winning captain and great all -rounder Kapil scored 9031 runs in his international career and took 687 wickets. Former South African veteran all -rounder Pollock scored 7386 runs and hunted 829. Bangladesh’s Dhakad all -rounder Shakib added 14730 runs and took 712 wickets.
Jadeja is speaking fiercely on the England tour. He has scored four 50 plus scores in the series. Jadeja has scored a total of 26 half -centuries and four centuries in the Test. He is only the second Indian to score 50 in both innings of the Test match at Lord’s. He was earlier done by Veenu Mankad in 1952 at Kamal Lords.
