The players of Ashwin and his team Dindigul Dragons were accused of applying chemical in a match while cleaning the ball with towels so that the ball remained dry. But the opposing team could not prove this allegation and after that Ashwin and the rest of the players of his team got a clean chit.
The name of former Team India off -spinner Ravichandran Ashwin came into controversy on Monday when he was accused of ball tampering by the opposing team in the league of his State Cricket Association (TNCA). The players of Ashwin and his team Dindigul Dragons were accused of applying chemical in a match while snapping the ball with towels so that the ball remained dry. But the opposing team could not prove this allegation and after that Ashwin and the rest of the players of his team got a clean chit.
The team of Seichham Madurai Panthers created a sensation by making this allegation. The panthers made these allegations in their match played on 14 June against the Dragons. He said that when the wet ball was being wiped with towels during the match, he was treated with towels chemical. However, in this case, the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association said that it has not found any evidence in the said case. TNPL called the matter a fictional claim and baseless.
TNPL CEO Prasanna Kannan said in a statement that the towels that are being described as disputed were issued by the TNCA and were equally available for both teams. The playing control team that included umpire and match referee was keeping an eye on the ball for the entire match. There was no concern about it during the match and no such evidence was given that would make the claim in the claim. These claims seem to be imaginary and later.
