Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ravi Shankar Prasad on Thursday accused Congress MP Rahul Gandhi of “insulting” India on foreign soil and defended the central government’s “attack on democracy”. Addressing a press conference here, Prasad said that Rahul Gandhi is making such comments for power. He also accused the Leader of the Opposition (LOP) in the Lok Sabha of “abusing” Prime Minister Narendra Modi and India’s development.

Former Union Minister Prasad said that Rahul Gandhi is abroad. It would have been good if he had wished for the good of India, but he was attacking India. He says everything baseless. He says that there is no democracy in India. There is complete democracy here, but the problem with Rahul Gandhi is that he wants power. He further said, “In Bogota, Colombia, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi said that there is no democracy in India and people do not have the freedom to speak. Rahul Gandhi most abuses Prime Minister Modi and the development of the country.”
The BJP MP said that if Rahul Gandhi continues to insult India during his foreign visits, the public will not vote for him. Prasad further said that his love for China became clear when he said that India cannot become a global power. He said that if you go abroad and insult India, then the public will not vote for you and you will not win the won seats this time. Now you are praising China and saying that India cannot become a great global power, but China can lead the world. Today India is the fourth largest economy in the world and is on the way to become the third largest. Your love towards China is clearly visible and you do not leave any chance to insult India. We strongly condemn this.
His remarks came after Gandhi on Thursday after targeting the Narendra Modi government, in which he said that the biggest challenge before India is an attack on democracy. Speaking at an event at EIA University in Columbia, Gandhi highlighted the issue of “structural flaws” and suggested that diverse traditions of the country should be allowed to flourish.

Gandhi said that India has strong capabilities in areas like engineering and healthcare, so I am very optimistic about the country. But at the same time, there are some flaws in this structure that India will have to fix. The biggest challenge is an attack on democracy in India. The Congress leader argued that the democratic system is extremely important for diversity, which allows various traditions, customs and ideas to flourish. However, he further said that the democratic system is being attacked in India, which is a “big risk” or threat. Gandhi said that there are many religions, traditions and languages in India – in fact, this country is essentially a dialogue between all these people and cultures. Different traditions, religions and ideas require a place, and the best way to create that place is a democratic system.
