Matters touch The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) challenged the parole granted to Ram Rahim by the Haryana government. However, the Haryana government has referred to granting parole under the prescribed rules.

Dera chief Ram Rahim is in jail after completing his parole, but the instructions and orders of the High Court in this case may affect his future parole.

In the petition filed by the Shiromani Committee, the Haryana government and others, including Dera chief Ram Rahim, have been made liable. Among them, Haryana Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, Rohtak Commissioner, Director General of Police, Principal Secretary of Punjab Home Department, Central Home Secretary, Superintendent of Sunaria Jail and DC of Rohtak have been made defendants. In the petition, the Divisional Commissioner of Rohtak has been accused of violating legal norms in granting parole.

A request was made to cancel the parole

On January 20, the SGPC had sought quashing of the Rohtak Commissioner’s order granting 40-day parole to Ram Rahim, saying it was against the provisions of Section-11 of the Haryana Virtuous Prisoners (Temporary Release) Act, 2022.

In the petition, the High Court was informed about the dangerous consequences of Ram Rahim’s illegal statements and activities during the parole period. The Shiromani Committee termed parole as a threat to the sovereignty and integrity of India and a threat to maintaining public harmony, peace and social fabric in the country.
