Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday appreciated the Defense Accounts Department (DAD) for ensuring financial flexibility during Operation Sindoor, adaptation of resources and maintaining operational readiness and described it as a silent but important spine of India’s armed forces. Singh, while addressing the department’s 278th Foundation Day celebrations in New Delhi, said that while the whole world saw the valor and courage of the armed forces in achieving historical and decisive victory during Operation Sindoor, the silence of DAD but the important role ensured efficient resource use, financial management and war preparation.

Rajnath described the Defense Department as an institution that not only ensures financial discretion and transparency, but also strengthens operations by providing timely resources to the forces. The Defense Minister emphasized that “the power of a nation reflected in the strength of its financial foundation” and appreciated the department for the efficient use of the budget. He said that by September 30, 50 percent of the capital budget expenditure had already been booked, and praised the Defense Department for acquiring 100 percent use in the last financial year. Singh appreciated the Defense Department for adopting technology under Digital India and cited initiatives like e-protection housing, Nidhi 2.0, Tulip 2.0 and AI Chatbot ‘Gyan Saathi’.
