The film begins with a busy port in Visakhapatnam, where Kingpin Simon (Nagarjuna) and his partner Dayal (Saubin Shahir) run an illegal business. Following an order from the police, they are stopped from disposing of bodies at the sea, after which they turn to Rajasekhar (Satyaraj), who is a former laborer and who has invented a chair that can cremate the dead bodies immediately and leave only ashes.
This invention, originally rejected by the government due to its dangerous capacity, has now fallen into the wrong hands. When Rajasekhar is killed, his old friend Deva (Rajinikanth), who was working in the background, gets involved in the fight. Starting as a mission to highlight his friend’s killer, this story soon exposes the mysteries of his past of Deva, and connects the old loose ends with the current conflict.
The first part of the coolie is quite focused on the service of fans, although it slows down the pace of the film and takes a little longer to introduce the characters that could have been introduced even more fast, but in the second part Lokesh really starts cooking and provides a great experience. Many cameos here are not only frozen in the best way, but also increase the weight in the story, and keep the audience tied on time.
Despite its long period, Coolie roars Rajinikanth’s legacy as a tribute – energy, old memories and unfunded mass appeal. Learning from the mistakes of his previous film, director Lokesh Kanagaraja has created a more dense, more impressive second part, with his All India stars well -carved, well used with purposeful characters. Nagarjuna, as a drug Lord Simon, adopts his villainy with a well-conscious manipulation, while Saubin Shahir proves to be another inspired casting option whose appearance on the screen. Rachita Ram’s amazing role emerges as a scene stealing – easily occupies the frame and gives one of the most easy, most biological action scenes in the film.
The much awaited Tamil film Coolie is now running in theaters, but while fans in Chennai have to wait for Thalaor Darisnam till 9:00 am, the audience in the US can enjoy its screening before. In the US, the film’s premiere took place at 6:30 pm at the East Standard Time (Indian Standard at 4:00 am). The dedicated followers of Rajinikanth have celebrated this release as a celebration, which has enthusiastically reached the new peak. The film is particularly important as it celebrates Rajinikanth’s 50 years in the film industry.
