On Tuesday afternoon, five people were killed and 14 others were injured due to landslides on the route leading to Mata Vaishno Devi temple located on Trikuta hills. During this period, heavy heavy rains continued in the area. Officials said that after this incident, the pilgrimage of this holy temple located in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir was postponed. A rescue operation is going on near Indraprastha restaurant in Ardh virgin, where landslides took place around 3 pm. It is located on the 12 -km long route to the temple located on the hill.

Three relief contingents of the Indian Army have been immediately deployed to assist in rescue and relief operations around and around Katra. One contingent is actively engaged in saving people’s lives in Ardhkunwari, the other contingent has reached the landslide site on the Katra-Thakarkot route, and the third contingent is working to the south of the jauriyan. Home Minister Amit Shah told X that the accident caused by heavy rains on the Vaishno Devi Yatra route of Jammu and Kashmir is very sad. In this regard, he spoke to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah ji and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. The local administration is engaged in relief and rescue operations to help the injured and the team of NDRF is also reaching there.
The journey on the Himkoti trek route was postponed during the day itself. The pilgrims continued to walk on the old route till 1.30 pm, when the authorities stopped it completely due to torrential rains. The heavy rains for three consecutive days have caused havoc in many parts of Jammu and Kashmir. This morning, after similar disasters in Kathua and Kishtwar, four people died due to cloudburst in Doda district. Due to sudden heavy rains, there was a sudden flood, causing more than 10 houses in the area.

Almost all major rivers and drains are flowing above or near the danger mark, which submerged the lower areas and roads. The authorities have urged people to stay away from mountain slopes and reservoirs. In the desperate valley of Pahalgam, Sheshnag drain broke its all -time record 5.68 feet and increased to 6.02 feet. The flood warning level of this drain is 4.59 feet, while the danger mark is 5.09 feet. Officials have warned that the water level of the Jhelum river may increase further by Tuesday evening due to continuous rains. He said that a rapid bounce in Sheshnag drain indicates cloudburst or extremely heavy rain in the upper areas.
