Rahul Gandhi will visit Assam on Friday to pay tribute to singer Zubin Garg.

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi will come here on Friday to pay tribute to singer Zubin Garg. Singer Zubin Garg died in Singapore last month. A Congress leader said Gandhi will visit the singer’s mausoleum in Sonapur and pay homage to him. He said Gandhi will also visit the singer’s residence and meet the bereaved family members.

Zubin Garg died on September 19 while swimming in the sea in Singapore. Zubin was cremated with state honors on 23 September near Guwahati. The Assam government has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the cause of his death.

ASam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Gaurav Gogoi on Thursday reviewed the preparations for Gandhi’s visit. Chief Minister Himanta Vishwa Sharma on Thursday said that Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s visit to pay tribute to Zubin Garg (52) is coming 28 days after his death, but it can be said that it is better to come late than not coming.

“We had expected that some senior Congress leader like Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi or someone else would be present at the singer’s funeral,” the Chief Minister said. He also said that since Gandhi is coming to pay tribute to the singer, “we welcome his arrival in the state.
