Congress leader Rahul Gandhi reached Araria from Purnia in Bihar during his ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ and launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP. He alleged that the central government is trying to ‘vote theft’.
Rahul’s sharp attack on BJP government
Addressing a public meeting in Araria, Rahul Gandhi said that the BJP government is trying to steal the votes of the poor through a special intensive revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar. He described this process as ‘an institutional way to steal votes’ with the support of the Election Commission. Gandhi said, “Narendra Modi government … after privatizing public sector units … Now with the help of Election Commission, wants to steal the votes of the poor through SIR.”

Sarcasm on Election Commission
Taking a sarcasm, he described the Election Commission as an ‘election lapse’. He claimed that the step is unconstitutional and its aim is to deprive the underprivileged sections of the society before the upcoming assembly elections in Bihar.
Rahul Gandhi insisted that India alliance will not allow this to happen in Bihar. He said that the constitution gives equal rights to every citizen and this step is completely anti-Constitution. He warned that the people of Bihar will give a befitting reply to the BJP and its allies in the upcoming assembly elections.

Rahul Gandhi alleged that the Modi government has closed all the employment avenues for the youth and has given the money of the country in the hands of some selected capitalists. He said that now he is stealing your vote, taking away your rights.
Referring to Bihar’s unemployment and poverty, he said that people are forced to go to other states in search of work. He also said that his ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ has been very successful because the people of Bihar agree with ‘vote theft’ and are joining them. Rahul clarified that his entire focus is on changing this attitude of the Election Commission and he pledged not to allow elections in Bihar to be stolen.
