Rahul Gandhi, Karnataka EC, surrounded the allegations of voter fraud, asked for evidence

Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has been sent notice to Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer (CEO). This notice has been issued by Rahul Gandhi after a large -scale allegations of voter fraud in Mahadevpura assembly constituency of Bengaluru Central. The Election Commission has asked them to give evidence and clarification in support of these allegations.

What did the Election Commission say?

The notice stated that Rahul Gandhi had made allegations of voter fraud during a press conference in Delhi on 7 August 2025. He claimed to be recorded by the Election Commission in his presentation, saying that a voter, Mrs. Shakun Rani, had voted twice.

However, the Chief Electoral Officer said that his preliminary investigation has revealed that Mrs. Shakun Rani has voted only once. In addition, the Commission also said that the document with the ‘tick mark’ shown by Rahul Gandhi is not a record issued by the polling officer.

Demand to present evidence

The Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer has requested Rahul Gandhi to provide all the relevant documents, on the basis of which he concluded that Shakun Rani or any other person voted twice. The Commission has said that after receiving these documents, the matter will be investigated in detail.
