Punjab has been facing its most severe floods since 1988, all 23 districts of the state have been submerged and so far at least 30 people have died. Rescue and relief operations are going on on a war footing in the state struggling with widespread destruction of homes, agricultural land and livestock. Amid this crisis, Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha has announced financial assistance of Rs 3.25 crore from his MP Fund Fund for flood relief and rehabilitation efforts.

The AAP MP said in a post on X that Punjab is struggling with the most severe floods in recent history. The houses were destroyed, the fields were submerged, the cattle were killed and 30 precious were lost. From my MP Nidhi Fund, I am allocating Rs 3.25 crore: 2.75 crore to strengthen the flood safety embankments so that our villages are protected from future floods. 50 lakh rupees for relief and rehabilitation. He further said that this is the money of Punjab, for the people of Punjab. I will also raise this issue in Parliament and appeal to the Center for maximum support.

In a video message posted on social media, Chadha highlighted the scale of the devastation in Punjab. He said that families have lost their houses, livelihoods have been destroyed, fields have been drowned and cattle have been swept away. The farmers saw their hard work being ruined in minutes. In this flood, we have lost the lives of 30 people. I pay tribute to every departed soul. Chadha said that despite the destruction, Punjab has not given up. He saluted the armed forces, NDRF, SDRF, doctors, Punjab Police and BSF personnel at the forefront of rescue operations. He also thanked the civil society groups, NGOs and the youth of Punjab, who risk their lives for helping the troubled people.
