Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Saturday that radio has been in existence for decades and is equally effective in the present time. He described it as an influential medium that can reach the last person of the society. He was speaking at the Maharashtra Radio Festival and Asha Radio Awards ceremony, where famous singer Asha Bhosle was also present.
Fadnavis also interacted with six radio jockey. Fadnavis recalled his fondness to radio, his love for music and his hobby of writing songs. In this program organized to commemorate World Music Day, he also recited a poem and also hummed a song.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi recognized the intensive impact of radio and started ‘Mann Ki Baat’ as a means of directly connecting every citizen. In the program, Asha Bhosle said, “If there was no radio, I would not have been at this point today.”
Emphasizing the relevance of radio, Fadnavis said that it has been in existence for decades, but it is equally effective even today. He said, “Our morning always started from radio. We never forget the songs of Vividh Bharati – from here my real association with radio started. ”
He said, “I have been believing for a long time that we should accept the contribution of those working in the radio industry meaningfully. The establishment of these awards is a meaningful step in that direction. Even though we cannot see the person speaking on the radio, their words create a lively image. Radio has the power to draw pictures through sound. ”
Maharashtra Culture Minister Ashish Shelar, who was present at the program, said that the state government has introduced these awards to honor excellence in the region.
He said that India’s first radio broadcast started in 1923 as ‘Radio Bombay’. He said that Maharashtra is the first state in the country to formally recognize and respect the contribution to the radio industry through such respect. In this program, prizes were presented in 12 categories.
