Harichandan told reporters here on Monday that some organizations had recently requested Shri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) to take ‘Mahaprasad’ and ‘Drought Prasad’ of Puri temple to devotees through online forums. He said, “It was a good idea to provide offerings to devotees around the world, but the government and SJTA have rejected this proposal to maintain the purity of Prasad.”

Government does not support or promote any such initiative
He said, “We are afraid that if ‘Mahaprasad’ is conveyed to the devotees in this manner, then its purity will be maintained or not.” Harichandan said that the government does not support or promote any such initiative. He said, “Neither we have any such proposal nor we will encourage anyone to sell ‘Mahaprasad’ online.”
The Law Minister appealed to the devotees to come to the Puri Jagannath temple to receive ‘Mahaprasad’. He said that the revised rate for ‘Mahaprasad’ will be implemented soon. The minister’s statement came after the media reports in which Lord Jagannath’s ‘Mahaprasad’ has been accused of online sale without permission.
