The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has caught Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Chatar Singh red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs. The complainant further stated that the said sub-inspector has also taken away a vehicle (Ertiga car) from the house of Ranjit Singh which is registered in the name of his wife. The complainant alleged that the accused was threatening ASI Ranjit Singh to pay bribe or else he would also nominate his wife in the case.

The spokesperson said that after the initial investigation of this complaint, the vigilance team of Patiala range laid a trap in which ASI. Chatar Singh was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from Binder Singh in the presence of two government witnesses. In this regard, a case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Vigilance Bureau's Patiala Range police station and further action is underway.
