Punjab Police's big action against drugs, 141 smugglers arrested in a week


During the campaign against drugs conducted by the Punjab Police, many smugglers have been arrested. Meanwhile, a large number of drug smugglers have also been arrested by the police.

According to the information, meanwhile, the Punjab Police continued its operation against the big drug traffickers. It is being told that last week 109 FIRs have been registered and a total of 141 drug traffickers/suppliers have been arrested including 31 big fish.

This information was shared by IG (Police Headquarters) Dr. Sukhchain Singh Gill during the press conference on Tuesday. According to the police, drugs worth Rs 1.40 lakh have also been recovered from the possession of the arrested accused.

The press conference was held at the police headquarters. During this press conference Dr. Gill said that during the said period, 19.4 kg of heroin, 8.3 kg of opium, 25.23 quintal of hashish and 4201 narcotic pills/capsules/injections/vials have been recovered.

According to the police, with the arrest of 6 more fugitives in NDPS cases in the last one week, the total number of arrests under the special drive to arrest PO/fugitives on July 5, 2022 has risen to 1260.

Sharing the details of disposal of drug related cases under the NDPS Act in the first 15 days of this year, IG Gill said that various field and special units of Punjab Police have seized 523 kg heroin, 79.92 quintal hashish, 298 kg ganja and 17.57 kg has recovered Lakhs of narcotic tablets/capsules have been destroyed following proper procedures under the supervision of high level narcotics disposal committees.
