The Punjab Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested two people as well as a major terror conspiracy hatched by Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) activist Harvinder Singh Rinda.
The development took place on the eve of Independence Day and two days after the Punjab Police busted the BKI terror module. Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said that the accused, who are also members of BKI, were actively plotting to target government establishments using grenades.
Yadav said that Counter Intelligence (CI) Ferozepur successfully thwarted a major terrorist conspiracy. Those arrested have been identified as Harpreet Singh alias Preet, resident of Bhullar village of Tarn Taran and Gulshan Singh alias Nandu, resident of Rampura village in Amritsar.
Police recovered two grenades and a pistol and five cartridges from them. On Tuesday, the Punjab Police caught five operatives including three teenagers from Tonk and Jaipur districts of Rajasthan and busted the BKI terrorist module and recovered a grenade and a .30 bore pistol from their possession.
DGP Yadav said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested accused were working on the instructions of their foreign masters sitting in Britain, America and Europe. He said that the investigation has also revealed that the arrested accused were actively plotting to target government buildings and police establishments using grenades to spoil the peace and harmony of the border state.
