Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann held a meeting in Delhi with Union Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister Prahlad Joshi late Wednesday night. In the meeting, there was a discussion about the dues of the Rural Development Fund (RDF), commission of agents and transportation of food grains.

CM Mann demanded from the Union Minister that if the Center does not want to give RDF money together, then it should be given in installments. RDF is their right and the Center should not be punished for the old governments. The Center talked about making Punjab an act, we also made an act.

Emphasis on paddy lifting

- Consideration of increasing the commission of the adhartis: The case of commission received in lieu of services provided in the mandis is important. Punjab is the “food store” of the country, which cannot be ignored.
- Paddy lifting process boom: At present, 25 trains are being run, which need to be increased further.
- Rice storage requirement: Steps have to be taken to further strengthen the storage system.
- Demand for Rural Development Fund (RDF): The Punjab government has demanded payment of RDF and said that it can also be given in installments.
