Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis appreciated the arrest of a person from the Nepal border in connection with the suicide of Vaishnavi Hagawane, daughter-in-law of a former NCP leader, on Friday that no person responsible for the incident would be spared.
The daughter-in-law of former NCP leader Rajendra Hagawane in Pimpri-Chinchwad in Pune district had allegedly committed suicide in her in-laws’ house on 16 May due to repeated physical and mental harassment demanding dowry.
Vaishnavi Hagawane’s father-in-law Rajendra, husband Shashank, mother-in-law, Nand Karishma and brother-in-law Sushil have been arrested in the dowry harassment-suicide case. Fadnavis said here, “The police has done a good job. Nilesh Chavan (who is close to the Hagawane family) fled to Nepal. The police laid the appropriate trap and arrested him. I had said on the very first day that no matter how many people are involved in this case, no one will be spared. Also, no haste will be tolerated in this case. Our goal (the culprits) is to punish the harshest punishment. ”
He came here to participate in a book release ceremony. Chavan is accused of intimidating Vaishnavi’s parents. When asked about the complaint against senior police officer Jalinder Supekar, accused of trying to save the accused in the dowry-killing case, Fadnavis said, “I have already ordered to investigate the facts in the first complaint. We have taken some decisions to ensure that no one (on the investigation of the case) cannot create any pressure.
