Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal said on Sunday that there has been progress in the formation of the Mediations Council and he will soon share “good news” about it. Addressing a conference on arbitration, Meghwal said that some people have noticed that the Indian Second Council has not been formed even years after the mediation law has been passed.
He said, “We are moving fast in this direction. I will give good news soon. ”Recently, Attorney General R. Venkataramani cited the lack of human resources behind the delay in the formation of the Council of Arbitration, two years after the Parliament passed the Arbitration Act.
The apex law official said that due to lack of human resources, there is a problem in the implementation of many such laws today. The Arbitration Act proposes the formation of an Indian Mediation Council to regulate the mediators. Its other works include registration of intermediaries and recognition of arbitration service providers and arbitration institutes. The law also has a list of disputes that are suitable for mediation or not.
