Producer Guddu Dhanoa recently talked about Shah Rukh Khan’s casting in the film Deewana. He said that Shah Rukh had earlier refused to do the film, but when he heard the script, he agreed. Along with Guddu reacted on reports that Shah Rukh was called to work in the film at gunpoint.
In a conversation with Friday Talkies, Guddu Dhanoa said, “When I told Shekhar Kapoor that Armaan Kohli is out of our project and we are no longer getting the lead actor, he suggested Shahrukh Khan’s name. At first I asked him who Shah Rukh told about shows like Circus and Fauji. After this I called Shahrukh for a meeting. This meeting was held in Delhi.

According to Guddu Dhanoa, as soon as he saw Shah Rukh Khan, he understood that the film Deewana has a new hero. But Shahrukh did not have time at that time, as he was already working in five films. So he refused to sign Deewana.
But as soon as Shah Rukh heard Deewana’s script, he immediately said yes to do the film. After this, the makers gave Shah Rukh Khan Rs 11,000 as a signing bonus. Then, it was a matter of luck that Deewana was released earlier.
At the same time, there were reports that Armaan Kohli was removed from the film and Shah Rukh Khan was called at the tip of the gun for shooting. Guddu Dhanoa described these reports as mere rumors. He said that he did not shoot any scenes with Armaan.

Talking about the gun incident, he said, ‘Shah Rukh had given us some dates and we were preparing to shoot the song at Natraj Studio, when it was found that Shah Rukh was not coming on shooting for Deewana.
After this, I went to Goa to meet him. I went straight to his room and woke him up. The first question he asked me, ‘Guddu, when should I come to shoot?’ When I told them that the sets would be ready the next day, he promised that he would fly to Mumbai first in the morning after finishing the night shooting in Goa. These are the things that are called at the tip of the gun, they are completely wrong.
