Priyanka Chaturvedi’s demand, Live telecast of India-Pakistan match, letter written to Ashwini Vaishnav

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi wrote a letter to Union Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on Friday demanding stopping the live telecast of the India vs Pakistan match to be held in Dubai on 14 September in the Asia Cup 2025. Criticizing the decision to organize the match, Chaturvedi said that the money received by the BCCI from this match will be not just blood money, but a curse money. He said that the central government’s decision to hold a cricket match with Pakistan is completely unacceptable. Recently, the Sports Ministry had said that India and Pakistan would not play bilateral cricket, but both teams can play in multinational tournaments.

In his letter, Chaturvedi said that India vs Pakistan match was completely unacceptable to him. He wrote in the letter that a parliamentary delegation was sent worldwide with a message of zero tolerance towards terrorism, which I was also part of, and this decision of the Government of India to hold a cricket match against (Pakistan) is completely unacceptable to me and my conscience. After Pahalgam massacre and operation vermilion, the government sent delegations of many different parties worldwide to convey the message of zero tolerance towards terrorism.

Chaturvedi said that he is disappointed by the BCCI and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to emphasize India’s participation in the Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan in the match. The Rajya Sabha MP stressed that there is a lack of moral courage to be allowed to be held under the guise of sportsmanship, standing against the terrorist country. In a letter to Vaishnav, he said, “Keeping in mind the national interest and public sentiment, it is necessary that the Ministry of Electronics and IT (Meity) should stop the live streaming of the India-Pakistan match on all OTT platforms, websites and apps. Since you also have charge of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, I urge you to stop the broadcasts.”
