Following the inaugural speech of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday addressed the full session of the Shanghai Cooperation Sangathan (SCO) summit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly criticized Pakistan for supporting terrorism at a meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Tianjin, China. When Prime Minister Modi raised the issue of Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 innocent people were brutally murdered, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif was also present in the room. He thanked friends for standing with India in difficult times and told how “some countries openly support terrorism.”
Prime Minister Modi in China gives strong message against terrorism
Prime Minister Modi raised the issue of terrorism and Pahalgam attack at the SCO summit in the presence of Pakistan Prime Minister Sharif. During this time, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif was also present. He described terrorism as a “most serious threat” in front of humanity and urged the member countries to adopt a policy of zero tolerance. Prime Minister Modi said, “Terrorism and extremism are a joint challenge for humanity. As long as these threats remain, no country or society can consider itself safe.” Without naming a specific country, the Prime Minister targeted countries that openly support or shelter terrorist network. He warned that the global community should reject such double standards in the fight against terrorism.
Pahalgam terrorist attack
Prime Minister Modi’s remarks came on 22 April giving a sharp reference to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 people lost their lives. Prime Minister Modi said, “We saw a very bad face of terrorism in Pahalgam.” He questioned the global silence on state -backed terrorism. “Can some countries open support to terrorism can ever be acceptable to us?” He further said, “We should make it clear that double standards are not acceptable in dealing with terrorism.” He said, “Terrorism and extremism are a joint challenge for humanity. No country, no society can feel safe with these dangers.” He added, “No compromise can be made on terrorism. We should condemn it in every form. Zero tolerance towards terrorism across the border is our duty towards humanity.”
The meeting of the leaders held in the presence of the heads of Eurasia and the heads of government began with the emphasis on regional stability, economic cooperation and multilateral diplomacy. Chinese President Xi Jinping launched the summit, speaking on the increasing importance of SCO in protecting regional peace and promoting balanced development in a rapidly changing global scenario.

In his inaugural speech, President Xi praised the role of SCO as a stable power in the region. He confirmed China’s commitment to strengthen cooperation with all member countries and called for a united stance to protect global justice. Xi emphasized the need to protect the role of the United Nations, oppose unilateralism and maintain multilateral trade system, which he described as essential for global economic stability. He also announced that China would implement 100 small-level development projects in SCO member countries, which aims to improve livelihood and reduce inequality in the most needy areas.
