Prime Minister Modi will come on a two -day visit to Assam from 13 September: Himant

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will now come on a two -day visit to Assam from 13 September instead of his pre -scheduled one -day visit on September 8. State Chief Minister Himant Vishwa Sharma gave this information on Wednesday.

Sharma said in a press conference here that the Prime Minister’s visit has been re -determined due to the Vice Presidential election on September 9. The Prime Minister was about to inaugurate the birth centenary celebrations of the famous singer Bhupen Hazarika, but will now participate in the programs related to the ceremony on 13 September.

Sharma said that the state government will organize a separate program on the birth centenary of Hazarika on September 8 and there will be a meeting of the Utsav Samiti on Thursday to discuss the event.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Mangaldoi in Darrang district on 14 September, where he will inaugurate the Guwahati Ring Road, which is a bridge over the Brahmaputra connecting Kuruva and Nargi in Guwahati, and he will also lay the foundation stone of Mangaldoi Medical College and Hospital.

Sharma said that after this he will leave for Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) in Golaghat district and dedicate the bio-ethanol plant set up at a cost of Rs 4,200 crore to the nation.
