In Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh, a priest has been arrested for sexually assaulting two girls after calling them to the temple for eating prasad. This information was given by an official on Saturday.
The incident took place on Friday in a village in Garhi Malhara police station area, about 15 km from the district headquarters. Rita Singh, an officer of Garhi Malhara police station, told reporters that the complainant told the police that her daughter and her sister’s daughter were going to her sister -in -law’s house, when she passed by the house of accused Bhagwat Sharan Dubey, who has a temple in the house.
Singh quoted the complainant as saying that Dubey allegedly asked the girls to come inside the temple and when she went inside, she allegedly made inappropriate comments and sexually harassed them.
The official said that a case was registered against Dubey under the Code of Justice of India (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (Poxo) Act and he was immediately arrested.
The area’s sub-divisional police officer Amit Meshram said that the girls have been counseled. The official said that the doctors have found both physically and mentally stable.
