As Diwali approaches, cleaning your home becomes a big challenge during this time, especially cleaning the ceiling fan. A thick layer of dust and dirt not only makes the fan quite dirty but also affects the air quality. Climbing a ladder or stool to clean every time can be tiring and risky. However, with a few simple home remedies, you can clean your fan like new in minutes without any hassle. Let’s find out how…
1. Remove the dust first
Begin cleaning by removing any loose dust from the fan first. Use a long-handled broom for this. This will remove dust and cobwebs easily, making further cleaning easier.
2. Make a household cleaner
Make a simple household cleaner. Mix a packet of Eno (or any antacid powder) and a small shampoo sachet in a bowl of warm water. The citric acid and sodium bicarbonate in the solution loosen dirt and oil. Pour this solution into a spray bottle.
3. Create an easy cleaning tool
Fix a scrubber on the lid of the plastic bottle. Drill two small holes in the lid, attach the scrubber with a string, and then attach it to a long handle or broom. This tool easily accesses the fan blades, eliminating the need for a ladder.
4. How to clean
Spray the prepared solution from a spray bottle onto the fan blades and let it sit for 2-3 minutes. Then, gently scrub the blades with the scrubber tool. You can do this comfortably while standing on the ground. Finally, wipe the blades with a dry, clean cloth. In just a few minutes, your fan will be shiny and dust-free.
