Prateek started her career with a Gujarati film.

What kind of reactions were received about ‘Dhoomi’?

There was a very good response to ‘Dhoomi’. People loved and appreciated a lot. I enjoyed it very much. The whole family could sit together and see it was the same film. So perhaps people of different ages have liked it very much. By the way, more response was that the film is entertaining. The rest reach us through social media or the reactions that come through newspapers. Sometimes when the interview is interacted, then it shows how far we have been able to affect the audience.

What kind of preparations were there for ‘Phule’? How long did it take for the character to assimilate?

I have also played Marathi in ‘Agni’ before this. In such a situation, there was not much difficulty in catching Marathi language or Marathi tone. I have learned Marathi Sun and Sun for a few years. I am also studying in Jalgaon. Graduation was not so unfamiliar with Marathi. Yes, his grammar is not yet in mind that I can speak the stream. But when dialogues are written, it makes it easier to speak.

I have played Jyotiba Phule in the film ‘Phule’. He has tried to show the work he had done for changes in history, society or the whole country. It was more important to know about him before playing his role. What he has studied in school was very briefly. Then when research was done, through this story, I have got to know about his personality and life in a lot of details. The rest is its director Anant Mahadevan ji. If the writer is also there, then research has been fierce for this. He believed that if you want to fight the British or fight with any external strength, then that fight cannot be won by weapons. It can be won only by knowledge. So it was more important to know about his character.

When was you approached for ‘Phule’?

I also worked with Anant Mahadevan ji in ‘Scam 1992’. He approached me after the release of the ‘Scam’ series. He also watched my drama named ‘Mohan No Masalo’, which was in Hindi, Gujarati and English. When he was thinking of directing ‘Phule’, he told me that there is a subject, if you like it then we will work together.

How was the experience working with Patralekha?

The experience of working with Patralekha was good. It was very fun to work with him. He is a very resolved artist. There is a very natural process of giving their performance and understanding the script. We used to discuss a lot of scenes in advance. Used to improve many times, because we have shot this entire film in Satara Region. We were all away from home, living in a camp. It was during this film that I met Patralekha, befriended him. In this, he is in the role of my wife Savitri Bai Phule.

The audience is liking you in every role. What to say?

If this is the case then what should I say. It is a big deal for me. When such things are said, it is nice that this is what I wanted. And now this is happening. Every actor aspires to reach the heart of the audience. As an actor, we also try to do such work that people get into their hearts. Settle in the mind of the makers. Whenever someone thinks of making a filmmaker project, first of all, come to your mind.

Have you thought of doing an action film?

I have a lot of mind to do full on action. I do not want to leave a single genre. I want to do all kinds of work. Personally, I do not understand the action outside the purview of Physics.

In such an action scene, I laugh that one man bangs his feet on the ground and many people fall. But what to do, people like the same. I feel a video game feeling after seeing such scenes. I will definitely do the rest of the chance. I had a script of one or two action film, but I did not like it.

Will share something about the upcoming projects on which stage?

There is a film by ‘Ghamasan’, which is directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia. He is a coop drama. He is ready. Recently it was shown at the CineaWest International Film Festival. Before that it was also appreciated at Mami Mumbai Film Festival. This film will be released soon. The rest is releasing ‘Phule’ on 11 April.
