The Pradhan Mantri Developed India Employment Scheme will provide employment opportunities to 3.5 crore youth. The ‘Pradhan Mantri Developed India Employment Scheme’ (PMVBRY), with a budget of about Rs 99,446 crore, aims to prepare more than 3.5 crore jobs in two years. Of these, 1.92 crore beneficiaries will be jobs for the first time. The benefit of this scheme will be applicable to jobs created between August 1, 2025 and 31 July 2027.
The scheme is named in accordance with the objectives of the ‘Developed India’ initiative, which reflects the government’s commitment to creating inclusive and sustainable employment opportunities in the country. The scheme will encourage special attention to creating new jobs in various fields, especially the manufacturing sector. The plan is divided into two parts – Part ‘A’ focuses on jobbers for the first time and Part ‘B’ on employers. Under Part ‘A’, for the first time registered in the Body Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) managing the retirement fund, the jobbers will be given a maximum of Rs 15,000 (one month EPF salary) in two installments. The employees whose salary is a maximum of one lakh rupees per month will be eligible for it.
The first installment will be given on completion of six months of service and the second installment will be given on completion of 12 months service and financial literacy program. In Part ‘B’, employers will be given an incentive of up to three thousand rupees per month for each additional employee (which has been done for a maximum of one lakh rupees and who has done a continuous job for at least six months). This incentive for the employers of the manufacturing sector will continue till the third and fourth year. The establishments registered in the EPFO will have to appoint at least two additional employees (if the number of employees is less than 50) or five additional employees (if the number of employees is 50 or more) for six consecutive months.
