The Punjab Pollution Control Board has taken major action. Ropar thermal plant has been fined Rs. 5 crore. The consent is withdrawing the plant under charge of the environmental laws. The order is given after the board chairman of the Board on July 7. The board directed the plant management to deposit Rs. 5 crore within 15 days. At the same time, the plant will not get the new supplies of coal until the command is postponed from the court. This can affect plant’s functioning.
Let it happened after the complaint of Jagdeep Singh of the three-third of the last village. The complaint was conducted in January 2024. The complaint was said that the villagers died on the plant ashes to homes, crops that causes people to harm people. In the March 2025, the PPCB team inspected the plant and saw many shortcomings.
The investigation was learned that the plants were not aware of the walls of the petty to the Sutlej river. The residue from the plant was being found in a straight side of no treatment. There was neither arrangement to separate oil and no system of hazardous waste. In addition, the plant was being used only 36 per cent of the ashes produced. The PPCB saw that the figures issued by the plant was not valid and was rolled in keeping records.

Harish Kumar of the plant, Harish Kumar, reported that he would appeal to the ODI officer against the order. He says that most of the processes were being performed in accordance with the rules but the board was not possible to be able to meet. The next hearing in the case will be operational without operating on the other week of August.
