Punjab Minister Harbhajan ETO’s statement on the statement of Punjab Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri on Shanan Project issue
Politics has been hot these days in Punjab and Himachal regarding Shanan project. At the same time, now the statement of Punjab Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO has come in this matter. He made a statement given by Himachal Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri about Shanan Power Project

Also said that the state of Punjab is owned by Shanan power project and Himachal Pradesh government does not have any right over it. He said that Agnihotri should have become aware of the facts before making Shanan project statements. Due to being unaware of the facts, Agnihotri is working to spoil the mutual relations between the two states by making wrong statements.
Punjab’s right to the project with this act
Harbhajan Singh ETO said that I would like to bring to the notice of Agnihotri that the state of Punjab was reorganized in 1966, after which the Government of India issued a notification of the date of property and liabilities of the restructured states 01-05-1967.
According to Section 67 (4) of the Punjab Reorganization Act 1966, the Government of India had allotted the properties of Hydro Power House Joginder Nagar to the Punjab State Electricity Board, which is now providing services in the state of Punjab as PSPCL.
He said that Agnihotri should understand that the Act that has been implemented by Parliament becomes a law, which is a documentable document to be implemented without any change. He said that Punjab reorganization determines the rights of the states, therefore, the Shanan project is fully property of the state of Punjab.
Himachal deputy CM gave this opinion
Regarding Shanan Project, Himachal Pradesh Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri had said in a program that Shanan Power Project is ours. In this case we are not going to retreat even an inch. This is not a matter of property sharing under the Punjab Reorganization Act, as Shanan or Mandi have never been a part of Punjab.
When Mandi is not part of Punjab and Shanan is completely built on Himachal land, then this project is also from Himachal. The Deputy Chief Minister said that the agreement between Punjab and Himachal government has ended in 2024. Now the Himachal government will take this project under its control. He urged Punjab to hand over the project to Himachal if he is truly Himachal’s elder brother.
