According to IMD, sub-Himalayan districts like Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar and Cooch Behar may receive heavy rains till August 12. There is a possibility of heavy rains till August 8 in many districts including North and South 24 Parganas and Nadia in South West Bengal.

The Meteorological Department said that the Garakata Tea Estate in Jalpaiguri district recorded the highest 120 mm of rain in the last 24 hours in the last 24 hours. Other places also received good rainfall including Baxadwar and Dalgaon Tea Estate (80 mm), Mohanpur (70 mm) in West Medinipur district and Diamond Harbor (60 mm) of South 24 Parganas district. Kolkata recorded 28 mm of rainfall during this period.
