Police arrested 3 smugglers including poppy and opium

Three drug smugglers have been caught smuggling drugs through a train at Rewari Junction in Haryana. All these three smugglers were going to Bathinda in Punjab with Doda post and opium from Rajasthan. The accused have been identified as Jagsir, Satpal Singh and Iqbal Singh, residents of Mahi Nangal, District Bathinda. The police have recovered 62 kg of Doda poppy and opium from the said accused.

According to information, Rewari GRP and RPF personnel were patrolling the junction on Tuesday night. Meanwhile, the police team saw a young man carrying a bag from the yard on platform number-7. Seeing the policemen coming from the front, the young man turned back and went out of the station. After which the police got suspicious and the team nabbed the youth. When the police questioned him about the contents in the bag, he panicked. When the police searched his bag, it was full of poppy seeds.

The police team reported this to the duty magistrate. On receiving the information, the duty magistrate reached the spot and during the search in his presence poppy was recovered from the bag. During interrogation, the accused identified himself as Jagsir, a resident of Mahi Nangal, Bathinda. After this, the police arrested his two other accomplices, Satpal Singh and Iqbal Singh, from Rewari station itself. It is being told that these two accused are also residents of Mahi Nangal.

The preliminary investigation revealed that all the three accused were going to Punjab with drugs from Rajasthan. The police of GRP police station recovered 21.918 kg of poppy from Jagsir, 13.044 kg of poppy and 216 grams of opium from Satpal Singh and 17.732 kg of poppy from Iqbal Singh. The police have registered a case under the Narcotic Act against the three accused and started investigation. The police are interrogating the three.
